List of standards bodies, forums, groups, organizations, alliances, etc., in which Extreme Networks is actively engaged in order to create, develop, publish and promote standards and best practices as well as accelerate new standard & technology adoption and introduction including interoperability between like vendor solutions. By participating in these bodies, Extreme Network guarantees compliance in all Summit® and BlackDiamond® product families

    Metro Ethernet Forum

  • The Metro Ethernet Forum was founded to accelerate the adoption of optical Ethernet as the technology of choice in metro networks worldwide. Forum members include leading Ethernet service providers, major ILECs, top network equipment vendors and other prominent networking companies. As a member, all Extreme Networks employees can access the members-only areas on the website by completing the member registration page.

Ethernet in the First Mile Alliance

  • The Ethernet in the First Mile Alliance (EFMA) promotes standards based Ethernet in the First Mile technology and encourages the utilization and implementation of Ethernet in the First Mile as a key networking technology for local subscriber access networks. The EFM Alliance supports the work of the IEEE p802.3ah program by promoting EFM and performing market development activities such as technology and interoperability demonstrations at trade shows, numerous speaking engagements, and through the production of collateral tutorial and education material. As a member, all Extreme Networks employees can access the members-only areas on the website by completing the member registration page.

The XENPAK Multisource Agreement

  • The XENPAK multi-source agreement defines fiber optic transceiver modules that conform to the 10 Gigabit Ethernet standard as laid down by the IEEE 802.3ae. A standard for optical transceiver modules is essential to the adoption and proliferation of 10 Gigabit Ethernet products.

University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab Member

  • A part of the University of New Hampshire's Research Computing Center, the InterOperability Laboratory (IOL) has the dual mission to foster interoperability within the data communications industry and to provide students with a detailed education in data communications technologies. Extreme Networks is a funding member of the lab, and also the UNH Gigabit Ethernet Consortium and UNH POE Consortium, which focus specifically on testing of gigabit Ethernet and power over Ethernet (POE) standards.

ISOCORE

  • ISOCORE provides a program of cutting-edge technology validation in the critical areas of next generation Internet and wireless networking. One of the objectives of Isocore, which is achieved through its Internetworking Lab, is to advance Internetworking technology in the areas of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), IP-Optical Integration, and wireless Internet.

Microsoft NAP Partner

  • Extreme is an active supporter of Microsoft's Network Access Protection program (NAP). NAP is a Microsoft initiative supported by over 30 industry-leading companies involved in networking, computer security, and desktop software. The goal of NAP is to protect companies from security threats by keeping client and server security software and patches up-to-date. This inactive is an example of the evolution of the network into a key part of the security infrastructure.

sFlow.org

  • sFlow.org is an international, multi-vendor, and end-user forum. It promotes the benefits of sFlow sampling technology for monitoring and managing traffic in complex networks, and drives the widespread adoption of sFlow by end users, network equipment vendors, and software application developers.

Trusted Computing Group

  • The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) is an industry standards body, comprised of computer and device manufacturers, software vendors, and others with a stake in enhancing the security of the computing environment across multiple platforms and devices. Extreme is actively participating in the Trusted Network Connect standard, which will bring open, multi-vendor solutions to the area of host integrity checking, giving IT administrators tools for gaining the upper hand on today's rapidly-spreading security threats.

North American Network Operators' Group (NANOG)

  • The North American Network Operators Group (NANOG) provides a forum for the exchange of technical information, and promotes discussion of implementation issues that require community cooperation. Coordination among network service providers helps ensure the stability of overall service to network users.

RIPE Network Coordination Centre

  • The RIPE Network Coordination Centre is a European network operators organization (RIPE.net) that provides a technical forum for sharing best practices among network operators, promoting the discussion of issues among network operators helps ensure the stability and consistency of overall service to network users.
